Casa Moricciani

Castelmuzio, Val d'Orcia, Tuscany

Casa Moricciani

Inside the walls of Castelmuzio, with the hills of the Val d'Orcia at your feet.

This is the house I’d choose for myself, if I only had one. It sits inside the old walls of Castelmuzio, in the middle of the village, and yet the moment you step into the garden, the village disappears and all you see is the valley below — the same hills I saw for the first time in 1998 and have never grown tired of since.

There’s a small pool at the edge of the garden, just deep enough to cool off in August, and a table outside where breakfast tastes better than it has any right to. Everything you need for daily life is a short walk away — a grocer, a restaurant, the kind of village life that doesn’t perform for visitors, because it doesn’t need to.

I don’t offer excursions or itineraries here. I offer a house, in a place I love, and the quiet you need to actually notice it.

The house sleeps up to ten in total, split between two apartments and the Apple Tree Room — plenty of space if you’re two families travelling together, or just extra room to spread out if it’s only the two of you. Everything’s air-conditioned, and the pool is right there in the garden whenever you want it.
